We’re an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) Public Service Charity – providing a unique training program for Veterans to train their own Service Dog. This training positively impacts the quality of life of the Veteran, their dog, and their family.

Purpose: Partial sponsorship are available between $500 and $8,500.
A full sponsorship at $8,500 covers the entire program for the veteran and their dog–from adoption (if applicable) to training and supplies.
Donors at the full sponsorship level will meet the Veteran and their dog and follow their entire training journey. You will receive pictures, personalized commentary, and an invitation to watch classes and the Veteran’s graduation.
Purpose: Home fostering may be necessary prior to placement and training with the Veteran. This process is critical to the success of the pairing, as it acclimates the dog to a routine, a caring family environment, and acquiring basic manners. SD4V provides everything a volunteer foster will need, 15 items in all.
Purpose: Training tools are vital to our students’ success. These include training collars, Service Dog In-Training vests, Pet Convincers training aides, booties, and shampoo.

A fund has been established in honor of one of our graduates, US Air Force Veteran Charity Singleton, who passed away in early 2018.
This fund will be used to help cover emergency medical expenses for a Veteran's dog when the Veteran cannot afford the care themselves. All those in the SD4V training programs and who are SD4V graduates are eligible.

With the stock market performance over the past several years, you may have securities that have appreciated significantly. If you sell them, you could trigger capital gains and pay capital gain taxes on the sale. You could instead consider donating stocks with appreciated values to SD4V. By transferring your stock directly to SD4V, you could receive a tax deduction for the donation of the stock at its fair market value at the donation date. This typically provides the donor with a larger charitable donation deduction and eliminates the capital gains tax for the donor. The donation to the charity eliminates the capital gains tax since non-profit entities are not normally subject to taxes.
Compared with selling appreciated stock and donating the net after-tax proceeds, donating long-term appreciated securities directly to a charity will increase your gift and your tax deduction.
Please contact us at communityoutreach@sd4v.org and we would be glad to discuss donation of appreciated stock with you in more detail.
